Review of This Gun for Hire (1942) by Kiefer F — 29 Jan 2009
An ok noir/crime film. the story certainly will seem familiar: a hitman does the job he was hired to do but is double-crossed by the men who hired him - so the killer goes after them. I watched it because I read somewhere that this is the film that introduces the stone cold hitman as a main character with redeeming qualities.
there are some truly cold-blooded moments in this movie (a woman shot through a door, a cat killed to silence it...) but it never lived up to the promise I thought it had. worth watching if you're a film buff.
