Review of This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) by Benny C — 18 Mar 2009
Just eye opening. I've never agreed with the MPAA ratings but now I know exactly why. it amazes me how long this organization have gotten away with such practice. I could swear that there is a law against monopoly, and the MPAA has that. I could go on and on, but I don't want to spoil this film for others.
The film has a great topic, but is poorly shot. it also kinda preach a bit too much. But I agree with just about everything they said. The best thing is getting notable directors such as John Waters, Kevin Smith, Dan Arronofski, as well as others point of view with their dealing with the MPAA.
***A little spoiler*** The film got an NC-17 from the MPAA for "Graphic Nudity" which I don't disagree the movie has. What I find funny, is that all "ALL" the graphic nudity are clips from movies which got R or PG-13 ratings.
*Fun little trivia I just found out.*.
The MPAA announced that starting in March of 2007, it will change their policy and allow filmmakers to cite other film's ratings as comparison. The MPAA will also provide information about the demographics of its board.
