Review of This Changes Everything (2015) by John T — 20 Feb 2016
OK, it's a little slow-paced at times. Could have been edited more crisply. Naomi Klein, God bless her, is another example of "don't let the author narrate the film." There's a long line of actors who would have done the voiceover for peanuts; Helena Bonham Carter comes to mind.
But...
The scenes of some current enviro disasters are overwhelming. I knew about the Alberta tar sands but had never really seen it. And more importantly, this movie gives voice to the local people--mostly poor, mostly people of color, all over the world--whose lives are being destroyed by, well, Capitalism. And it shows those people resisting that destruction.
So, yeah, it's not the perfect movie. But it's the movie you need to see. We are living in the human race's darkest hour. And if you don't get that, you REALLY need to see this movie.
