Review of Kalifornia (1993) by John T — 05 Oct 2018
Not for everyone, but I liked it. Pitt mounts a convincing portrayal of the kind of no-account character he tries to portray. Good acting by the others as well. (Ebert gave this 4 stars out of 4.
I guess I'd give it a solid 3 on the 4 star scale.) I suspect the large percentage of people who didn't like it were really expressing dislike for Pitt's character, which in itself a measure of his.
Success in this film. Yes, he's unlikable - that's the point! Worth seeing. (To the critic who called this "a pointless knockoff of Natural Born Killers"? If anything it's the other way around: this came out first.).
