RECOMMEND THIS ~ a hard coming of age story. This movie is so good, I can watch it over and over. Leo starts off as a young boy, always in trouble, his mom married a hard nosed man played wonderfully by DeNiro - I have seen DeNiro play so many 'bad' people in so many gangster movies, and never have I hated 'his charactor' so much.
A wonderful story. Ellen Barkin plays a strong/weak mother... without giving away the ending, she 'finds' her strength and all is right with the world. To see this movie - you will definatly grow from knowing these people.
OH ~ and I always wonder what would have happened if DeNiro's charactor hadn't come into their lives....... think about that.
