Review of Things We Lost in the Fire (2007) by Donna S — 02 Feb 2009
Rating based on following 2 premise - Halle Berry is too beautiful for words, so when she gets a role where she gets to act (unlike Catwoman..) she is also very talented. If you liked her in Monster's Ball, you will like this movie.
2nd premise - If you believe that Benicio is phenomenally talented and is still hot even when he is in the depths of heroin addiction, you will like this movie. The children were fabulously cast - talented, funny, charming, and lovely enough to be Halle's children.
Once we get past all the superficial stuff and get to the story - I was lulled into and committed to seeing it through to the end. Not everyone was successful, they are fabulously flawed, make bad decisions and are quite ordinary.
Remember "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful?".
