Review of Things We Lost in the Fire (2007) by Dean I — 12 Feb 2012
Hard hitting stuff about addiction - to substances as well as people. And how one goes about finding replacement once it is gone. This film could easily go down the soapy melodrama route but manages to stay focused and balanced in its presentation of the subject matters without resorting to oversimplification the characters' relationships.
Berry and Del Toro deliver great performances. The two kids who play Berry/Duchovny's son and daughter are also noteworthy.
