Review of Thieves' Highway (1949) by Rick P — 10 Feb 2008
A lost classic. It's no surprise Dassin fell victim to Hollywood's blacklist - this picture smolders with a righteous, Socialist anger that Salles' "The Motorcycle Diaries" would've envied.
The movie never flinches from what was then the harsh realities of long-haul trucking, rarely getting preachy while delivering a tight, riveting and very original story.
