Review of Thief (1981) by Codie E — 02 Sep 2009
Sets out all of the hallmarks that are still present in Mann's work; meticulous attention to detail, the morality of those on either side of the law, the pull of redemption against duty. James Caan is excellent and is well backed by a solid supporting cast.
Mann would go on to make better but for his first offical theatrical feature this is a damn good start.
