Review of They Came Together (2014) by Neslihan B — 25 Oct 2014
Review:
I didn't really find this movie that funny! The jokes were way over the top, in a deliberate way, and the storyline wasn't that great. The movie is based around 2 couples who are telling each other how they met and fell in love. When it comes to Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler to tell there story, the movie shows how they met and fell in love but I found the it quite boring and uninteresting. The acting wasn't bad, but it was the writing that really let the movie down. For a Rom-com, it really wasn't that original or even slightly funny. Because the movie is based on there conversation around the dinner table, the movie is very over exaggerated and unbelievable, which should have made it easier to make a funny movie, but it failed miserably. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
Paul Rudd, whose most famous for his roles in Anchorman and The 40 Year Old Virgin, really doesn't have any problems with making himself look silly in his movies and it is usually quite humorous but in this movie it really didn't work. It's mostly due to bad writing why this movie was so bad, but the chemistry between the characters was OK. I didn't really like Amy Poehler's character because she seemed a bit ditzy and totally in her own little bubble. Personally, I was hoping for a quirky Rom-com with loads of laughs, mixed with a touching love story, but I was terribly disappointed.
Budget: $3million.
Worldwide Gross: N/A.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there Rom-com's which are based on a couples journey about how they fell in love. 2/10.
