Review of Thesis (1996) by Alexander Z — 02 Mar 2011
Starts great, almost ends great, with a bunch of boring in the middle. Also, way too many poorly telegraphed twists. Seriously, three in the final third. And they're not even really twists. And Natural Born Killers did the obsession with violence bit better.
I've never seen such unconvincing seduction by violence as I did in that stupid dream sequence. Perhaps 8MM is dumber and flashier, but I feel it's the superior film. It doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is, and the villain is far creepier.
