Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Y. H — 30 Nov 2012
There Will Be Blood, traduces familiar hollywood mythology: the greedy man ends up materially rich, but relationally poor in both friends and family. And guess what? He gets rich by alienating 'what really matters' in life. This movie continues the long fictional tradition (since Christianity?) that rich people are more miserable than the rest of us (an idea we poor souls desperately want to believe, because, pace Nietzsche, it allows us to believe that we really are superior to those wealthy bastards).
If a treadless plot is tolerable to you, you will likely be entertained in this slightly over the top re-dramatization of Upton Sinclair's historically important novel Oil!
