Talky, seriously neurotic woman meets an equally neurotic, damaged man (Firth), and almost screws it up to stay with her puerile mama boy of a husband who looks like he still wears Garanimals (Broderick).
And as frustrating and self destructive as she could be, somehow, I still liked the movie...Bette Midler really shines as her blowsy, newly discovered birth mother.
