The Young Victoria sparkled as brightly as any jewel, and truly the movie was a jewel. Sadly, though, The Young Victoria was a diamond in the rough, not yet perfected or polished.
Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend had performances that deserved more recognition than they recieved. The two young stars are making their mark. Both had a chemistry, not only with eachother, but with the screen itself.
The plot skimmed and skipped many moments in the young Queen's early, pre-rule, and post-Albert life. Time limits many movies, and if there had been more time for this movie it could've been much more than it was.
The direction and choices used while making the film were extremely enjoyable. The nararation and the clips of past moments added infinantly to the understanding one has while watching the film.
Most noteable where the costumes, and the sets. Each dress was unique and beautifully designed. The sets, including Buckingham Palace, were marvelous and gorgeous.
Worth seeing for several reasons, but mainly for the acting of Emily Blunt, and Rupert Friend, and for the fantastically written dialouge.
