Review of The Young Lions (1958) by Matt W — 06 Nov 2007
Wow... why isn't this movie more well known? Following 3 different mens lives through WWII. Heck the women even meet with all of the men roughly at different times in the story. When I first watched this, I didn't know who Marlon Brando was and I was like "He's really familiar.
" But honestly... nothing against Montgomery or Dean... or the U.S. Military, but I was secretly wishing for Christian. Marlon did a fantastic job with his accent and giving the characters personality.
Montgomery also did a really good job in the movie too, and who can forget Dean Martin. Personally, I love how this film took on a German/Nazi viewpoint atleast for it's time was pretty unique thing.
Considering the fact that most films were propaganda. The film was really good and pretty long, now I'm interested in checking out the novel by Irwin Shaw.
