Review of The Yellow Handkerchief (2009) by Jennifer A — 09 Mar 2011
The Yellow Handkerchief (2008) - 6.4/10.
Director - Udayan Prasad.
Cast - William Hurt, Kristen Stewart, Maria Bello, Eddie Redmayne.
Part romance, part road flick, "The Yellow Handkerchief" is a nice little film reminiscent of engaging indy films of the past. William Hurt stars as an ex-convict just released from prison who hitches a ride from two wayward teens (Stewart and Redmayne) on his way to New Orleans to hopefully rekindle a lost romance with his ex (Bello). While there is nothing truly original about the story, the characters have enough depth and emotion to keep you involved. The acting is pretty good as well. It's a solid little film, much better than most romances coming out of Hollywood these days.
