Review of The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) by Luke B — 11 Dec 2010
Another excellent Rankin and Bass Christmas special. Here, Santa decides to skip Christmas for a year. After all, he's sick and nobody appreciates his work anymore. Mrs. Claus isn't going to give up quite so easily, and with the help of Jingle and Jangle, they set about raising some Christmas cheer around the world.
A lovely film about taking people and Christmas for granted. The stand-outs are Snow Miser and Heat Miser. Two bickering stepbrothers trying to spread their own brand of winter. There verbal fisticuffs are amusing, and their songs are catchy.
