Review of The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) by Casey B — 27 Apr 2007
The Year of Living Dangerously >> There was a chunk of this movie where I was confused whether or not the character of Billy was male or female. Billy was played by actress Linda Hunt, whom I recognized. Other than that confusion, the movie was decent. It seemed ackward at times and more concerned with the uneventful romance than the country's civil issues.
Videodrome >> Even stranger than Scanners, this movie was a trip. I still don't fully get it, but I have the feeling I'm not the only one. It was a fun, quirky, and interesting film, however.
Smokin' Aces >> Basically, I didn't care about any of the characters. The film was stylish but was trying to be overly witty and funny. It wasn't boring but I rarely laughed and found myself mostly uninterested. When it tried to get dramatic, it failed miserably.
