Review of The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (2006) by Angie S — 23 Apr 2008
[size=3][font=Times New Roman]Although the description of TYMPWOV may sound a little hard to relate to, it?s anything but that. The film contains so many layers. First you have a boy dealing with the abandonment of his parents.
Then you have the fact that he?s been deposited into an unknown culture and all the humor of that situation. There?s a wonderful mix of inspiring coming-of-age elements set against political turmoil. And this is all overlaid with the manic soccer fever brought about by Brazil?s World Cup play.
This gives the viewer any number of ways to relate to the story and the characters. Quality writing, directing and acting are present throughout. This one?s sure to please many a foreign film lover. I highly recommend it.
