Review of The Yakuza (1974) by Douglas P — 02 Sep 2011
Pollack's 'Three Days to the Condor' was a far superior film to this slapdash attempt at commenting on the cultural clash between the US and Japan. There are points in the film that feel as though Pollack just let the camera run, and had to add narration to it just to fill out the time.
An impressive gun battle at the end can't save this film. It is all cut-out construction, and even though Paul Schrader scribed this, it simply feels empty.
