I have watched every episode of every season of the television show. When I heard the this movie was going to be considered a stand alone plot that had nothing to do with the Conspiracy Theories that were at the heart of the show (and thus would not involve Aliens) I was automatically disinterested.

That is, quite simply, a stupid idea, especially when true fans have waited for so long. So when it came out on DVD, I rented it with low expectations. But even by those standards, I was still disappointed.

This was not an interesting or engaging plot. And it moved at such a slow pace. Even if they would have fit it down to be an episode of the television series- it would have moved faster- but it would not have been considered anywhere near their best material.

I just don't understand how Chris Carter thought this was a good idea. I kept nodding off near the end, and quite honestly, don't know exactly how the movie ended. I was too bored to rewatch what I had missed.

I give it a 4 because I thought parts of it were interesting (although very little) and David Ducovney and Gillian Anderson did good jobs with what they had to work with.
