Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Fabiola V — 07 Jun 2011
Mickey Rouke plays a Wrestler living on past glories when he was a Wrestling Champion in the 80's. He hawks out a living performing for die hard wrestling fans in Community Halls & School Gyms until a near fatal heart attack forces him to retire.
He tries to reconnect with his daughter & tries to woo an exotic dancer but nothing compares to the rush he got in the ring so has one last go in a re-match celebrating 20 years of his greatest victory despite the fact this could actually kill him.
The film ends on this climax which I found to be an anti-climax forcing you to come to your own conclusions, did he survive another heart attack or did he die doing what he loved in the ring?
