Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Justin W — 10 Aug 2011
As a long-time fan of the sport, I was thrilled that a serious mainstream movie had finally been made about it. I'm not a big Mickey Rourke fan but he knocked it out of the park in this one. I liked seeing wrestlers from the past and present and felt a deep sense of sadness for Randy since he had gone from selling out arenas in the 80's to living in a trailer park, working in a grocery store, and having a strained relationship with his only daughter.
Marisa Tomei, as always, was spectacular even though she plays a stripper.
