Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Courtney T — 22 Aug 2011
A depressing look at a has-been wrestler. Mickey Rourke is totally believe as the title character. He's pathetic and flawed, yet we want him to overcome his obstacles. This movie made me realize that even though entertainment wresting may be "fake" in the sense that the stories are prefabricated, those wrestlers are still getting punched (or stapled) in the head and hit on the back with chairs.
