Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Lindsay K — 02 Dec 2012

The story itself is not very good. It's your regular old everything to nothing story. The only thing that made this movie great was Mickey. He made my heartbreak, made me laugh, pissed me off, made me love him.

I don't think anyone else could ever play this role. The thing about Mickey is that he fits every role he plays and seems made for them. I didn't like Marisa Tomei's character or performance.

Evan Rachel Wood's performance however surprised me. It was quite good and her and Mickey had better chemistry than Marisa had with him. Anyway, worth a watch just for Mickey, but if you're not a fan of him, then you'll probably hate it.

Especially if wrestling annoys you like it does me.
