Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Christopher S — 26 Mar 2013
The Wrestler is a re-envisioning of underdog films and the whole of Mickey Rourke's career. In fact the film can be seen as a testament to Rourke himself; a celebrity of a different age, suffering late in life from depression and addiction, until finally he makes a well-earned comeback that will withstand time.
In this analysis, it only strengthens the powerful dedication Rourke gives to the role. The film gives a vivid portrayal of man's fight against time and will certainly spark hidden emotional centres in its viewers.
