Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Matt B — 01 Sep 2017
This week's movie review is on a flick that everyone who's seen it will say "Yeah, was amazing!" But I'll be willing to bet very few people have. They look at it, they see some random low-budget, minimally-marketed movie about some washed out 90's wrestler, and dismiss it based on the subject matter.
BUT, anyone who's seen it knows it's practically perfect. A deep character drama about a man who doesn't know where he fits into the world anymore and just wants to matter, to someone, ANYONE, even himself.
Great performances, great directing, and great...Umm...Marisa Tomei. There's nothing else to be said about this movie except although it might not even crack my top 5...It's still pretty much perfect and if you ever want to rent a flick, but don't know what, this is the movie.
5/5 stars. Heck, 6/5 if I could.
