Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Evan B — 11 May 2014
Clearly the BEST Actor of the year in this film. How he lost to Jeff Bridges must have had something to do with either his alienation from hollywood or Bridges' turn to win something.
The film was so good. So evoking of my emotional juices. A brilliant and masterful movie.
Many years from now, people will be asking themselves why Mickey Rourke wan't handed the Golden Man and be kicking themselves in the butt.
And the movie was so real as opposed to formulaic as it could have been like another one that year.
The Academy is rarely right, in my opinion. Biased and faithful to those who have bought into their form of fakery.
This was the best movie of that year. And the role of a lifetime which no one else in "Hollywood" could have played.Marisa Tomei was also cast so brilliantly.
Oh well.. I don't really feel Rourke could give a rat's as- that he didn;t win, but I do.
