Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Mark A — 02 Jun 2016
Stunning. Gut wrenching. Heart breaking. Beyond acting. Beyond filming. More than a movie. It will leave any human with a soul floored and feeling like their heart was ripped right out of their chest. The only really sad thing is that this low-budget, non-blockbuster movie will never be seen by most and it is Mickey Rourke's triumphant tour-de-force.
Like the movie, a once huge star returns from a troubled time for a comeback, but only hollow crowds show up and one of the greatest acting performances in decades may never be seen but by a few. I felt The Wrestler's pain as a movie as I felt Mr.
Rourke's pain in life.
