Review of The Wrestler (1971) by Jelena D — 29 Oct 2011
Mickey Rourke is da bomb! I cannot imagine anyone else being such a good fit for this part. This is truly his comeback role. Incredible how charming and charismatic this man is - despite the horrible things he'd done to his face in the past decade, it still comes through his eyes and smile. There is a touch of humbleness in his facial expression now which is completely disarming and makes him very easy to empathize with.
Aronofsky did a great job! I liked the camera angle right behind Randy, moving the same way he moved and following him closely enough to hear him breathe.
