As a lifelong wrestling fan I couldn't wait to see this movie. For years I had read about the real life struggles with drugs, alcohol, and family hardships that many of my childhood heroes had to deal with while on the road. Seeing them all displayed in such a real and honest critique was a chilling and heartbreaking.

However, this movie is so much more than a simple story of a wrestler past his prime. It's a story about a man past his prime and dealing with a world he needs and wants but can no longer have. You could switch any profession that requires physical endurance, from football player to mailman, with any other and you'd get the same kind of story. And that's the thing, what this film does so well is it tells a universal story of life and with a unique angle on it as well.

No matter what your opinion on wrestling is, you identify with a man pure and simple. And that's one of the most important aspects of story telling there is.
