Review of The Wrestler (1971) by James H — 27 Apr 2013
Chronicling the demise and (eventual) rise of a professional wrestling superstar, The Wrestler is everything a sports film should be. While rather standard fare as far as storyline (it could be replaced by any sport and be the same), The Wrestler moves things along at such a pace that you can't help but be entertained.
Rourke plays his part with gusto, and you truly feel heartbreak for the fallen hero. Lots of strong imagery in this one.
