Review of The Woman in the Window (1944) by Tibor B — 06 Feb 2010
Classic film noir from Fritz Lang, in which Edward G. Robinson plays an ageing college professor who appears to get caught in a good old murder plot with a young, sexy femme fatale, Joan Bennett while his wife is out of town.
There's lots of furtive creeping around in the rain at night and also some fun games between the guilty man and his DA friend when he's confronted with his own crime scene. The ending might feel like a cop-out, but Lang has fun throwing the noir book at an unlikely criminal and feels enough sympathy to save the poor schmuck from a completely dead ending.
