Review of The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Beth M — 25 Sep 2014
Another winner from both Leonardo DiCaprio, and the master Martin Scorsese. I enjoyed the movie, but will admit this is one I probably watch once. To me what truly decides the value of a movie to me is whether I would 1) want to own it, and 2) want to watch it again (and again, and again).
I expected to not enjoy this movie mainly because I thought that it would be very technical in regards to the financial content. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the technical information was there, and it was delivered in a format that was both informative and understandable, even to the Wall Street dummies like me.
I was a bit taken aback by the sheer volume of debauchery portrayed. I never thought I'd see a movie with more blatant and prolific drug use than De Palma's 1983 flick Scarface, but this movie wins that trophy hands down.
I would strongly recommend this movie for mature audiences, but be forewarned it is a tad overlong. Stick with it to the end though.
