Review of The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Omar M — 15 Dec 2014
A non-stop tour-de-orgy from start to finish from which perhaps the writer and director can be partially excused because they followed the protagonist's historical account of his own life. On the other hand, this seems to be Scorcese's tendency in most of his films.
And, we hardly need to see every sexual liaison and drug rush that the main characters have to understand that apart from their obvious amorality and lack of conscience, they are just plain out of control.
The effect is that where the film intends to indict the story-teller, it just ends up glorifying excess. A different perspective and structure would have meant a much better told story.
