Review of The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Raine F — 06 Aug 2017
Almost everything about this film was great, the comedic wit was bitting. But it seemed to drag from one drug-soaked orgy to the next, as though it couldn't decide if it's a story about excesses of the finance industry or of personal excesses of its participants.
I would guess it's trying to be both. But although both kinds of excesses exist together in real life, they might not work together so well when depicted on film. On the other hand, a lot of folks liked this film.
Everyone should decide for themselves. If you do watch it, have lots of popcorn ready (it's almost 3 hours long), and make sure the kids aren't around (it has what I would call a "Strong R" rating).
