Review of The Wolf Man (1941) by Ricardo V — 09 Feb 2008
A classic movie. The performances alone make this worth watching. Claude Rains is fantastic, as always, but I especially love Lon Chaney, Jr. in this. He's perfect. As Lawrence Talbot, he's so innocent and likable, and you really feel sorry for him when he becomes a werewolf.
And as the Wolfman, he is outstanding, as well. The makeup is so awesome. This movie has some great atmosphere (one of my favorite things in old horror movies is fog, and this has plenty of it) as well as some good music.
This is probably the most fast-paced of the Golden Age Universal horror movies, so it's entertaining as well.
