Review of The Wolf Man (1941) by Jason R — 12 Jul 2008
Would this have been a 5 star movie in 1941...No. Now the Wolf Man is a classic and its problems are just great demonstrations of the genre. The foreigners with no accents (except Lon Chaney's English father and the Gypsies), the repeating sets, the clunky dialogue, and the fact the Wolf Man decides he has to put a shirt on to go out "werewolfing" mixed with pop psychology of the time all make for a great blend.
The make-up is great for the period.
