Review of The Wolf Man (1941) by Bobby P — 03 Oct 2014
Not an especially strong movie, but a great cast including Claude Rains, Bela Lugosi, and Lon Chaney. Chaney seems a lot more comfortable as the Wolf Man than in his somewhat awkward performance as ordinary guy Larry Talbot.
It works rather well for the character, though. The atmospheric, misty woods are beautiful; the special effects, impressive for the time; and the movie established many of the werewolf "rules" that have endured as canonical ever since.
