Review of The Wolf Man (1941) by Jason H — 24 Oct 2012
Easily among my favorites of the Universal Horror series, The Wolf Man is fairly well made and features several good performances. Chaney, Rains, Ankers, Ouspenskaua, and Lugosi all deliver in what easily could have been a bad movie.
It creates most of what we now accept as werewolf lore (though no full moons here). So much of this movie and it's lore have become classics. Lon Chaney is a very sympathetic character here and that is what he was best at and Claude Rains also does quite well as the father.
Just an all around good genre picture which unlike some of the other classics, holds up rather well.
