Review of The Wizard of Gore (1970) by Greg S — 18 Nov 2009
Hmm...well where should I start? The non-existent plot? The laughably bad acting? The kitsch generic soundtrack? And let's not forget that gloriously vibrant gore! Despite it's obvious flaws you can't say that this film is not entertaining.
It's basically a handful of torture scenes, led by the delightfully over the top Montag the Magician, with some nonsense about a dippy sport's writer and a strangely enthusiastic female TV host (who's reactions to the torture acts are priceless) thrown in to fill in the gaps.
The gore itself isn't exactly realistic, but watching Montag wallow up to his elbows in blood and organs is actually damn enjoyable to watch.
