Review of The Wizard of Gore (1970) by Alan G — 13 Jun 2009
There wasn't a single performance in this film that could pass as convincing. This is one of those rare occasions where I will actually use the phrase "I could have made a better movie than that!" Sloppy editing and careless transitions make the shots between "nice" and "gruesome" versions of Montag's acts look like continuity errors.
Every shot looked like it was the first and only take, as if the director didn't have time to re-shoot a single moment. My favorite part of the entire scene was the newspaper that is dropped on the desk of the reporter.
When it shows a closeup of the front page, you can literally see that it's just a bunch of paper cutouts taped to a piece of paper. Would it really have been that hard to just print a single fake newspaper?
