Review of The Wizard (1989) by Simon W — 17 Jul 2009

Wow, this movie should send any 80's child into a technicolour laden flashback of pure delight. A brilliant story, characters you can and will root for, villains you want to reach through the screen and kick swiftly in the shins, a sense of adventure fueled by the enormity of the task set before them and the fun had along the way.

This may be one of the best children's movies ever made and it saddens me to think of how widely forgotten and credited as a " 90 minute commercial for Nintendo " it has been. Sure, they play a ton of Nintendo games, and compete in a Nintendo challenge but only because that's what the story calls for.

I loved everything about this movie. My kids will be watching this one for sure.
