Review of The Wizard (1989) by Shane D — 15 Jan 2012
Nostalgia and nostalgia alone is the reason why this film is still able to be sat through in one sitting. I remember those classic Nintendo games fondly. Hours spent creating callouses on my thumbs sat in front of the television.
Having said that, this is definitely a commercial for Nintendo or at the very least an elaborate promo for Super Mario Bros 3, not that we minded at the time but now it wreaks of clever advertising. It is probably only the scenes between Bridges and Slater which actually carry any real weight, otherwise the rest of the film is pure rubbish, especially any acting done by Fred Savage.
