Review of The Wiz (1978) by Rakeem M — 12 Feb 2009
It's more than just a black wizard of oz, it's an important acheivement in black cinema that showed we were capable of producing something other than movies about gangsters, pimps/ho's, and drug addicts that permeated the atmosphere of the African-American film landscape of the time.
Sure, Diana Ross was miscast, but it's still an enjoyable mess of a film.
