Review of The Wiz (1978) by Tre M — 19 Aug 2009
For me it's childhood memories, family gatherings, holiday moments, questionable adolescents to maturity, finding ones place in this world and challenging the mediocrity of societal degradation and chains of confinement.
This movie may not meet with today's standard of movie making but it did what it needed to do back in the day to encourage young children and family support systems...It has been one of my all time favorites for over 30 years and I could look at it and remember what it means to dream.
..to leave home for the first time and not know what's out there...and to know that while I was out there...it wasn't always about me; but helping others find their way to their goals and dreams.
Yes it's much easier to tear apart another man's work than to search one's heart and soul for a deeper meaning...each and every song cast a different meaning in my heart and brings a tear most of the time and a smile, some laughter and some celebration.
I was hoping for a recast of the movie with current artist like Usher or Chris Brown slated as the Scarecrow...they both can dance and sing...well...I've shared "MY" thoughts, one of my childhood/Adult favorites.
..I Just Love This Movie!!
