Review of The Witches of Eastwick (1987) by Cameron J — 02 Apr 2015
A hilarious supernatural horror-comedy that piles on the laughs and revs up the hedonism engines. Jack Nicholson gives as great a performance as always as a mysterious bachelor who seduces three ladies (Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer, all of whom are great here) so that they can have his devil babies.
The script is smart and full of witty, profound and downright hilarious commentary on sexuality, identity, and spirituality, and the production values are superb. Even by today's standards the effects are pretty believable, even in the later scenes where CGI is used.
Some of the scenes run a bit longer than necessary, but nonetheless this is a great, light-hearted comedy with a strong cast, excellent production values, lots of laughs and an enticing air of mysticism.
