Review of The Witch (2016) by Dean H — 26 May 2016
This is a film people will either love or hate and the ratings seem to back this up as most people gave it 4-5 stars or 1-2 stars. The slow pacing, using English as it was spoken in New Egland circa 1630 and the authentic setting, clothing, as especially the acting kept my interest.
Parts of the film were quite disturbing, to me at least. Some people will hate this movie, but it is different and not another teen slasher or bad ghost movie . It depicts how in 1630 people believed witches were real and there was not much separation between the mythical and real world in people's minds.
This is not your usual Hollywood horror.
