Review of The Witch (2016) by Beth N — 02 Nov 2018
I can't begin to explain how much I love this movie. Without a single jump scare, Eggers has made something uniquely bone-chilling and deeply upsetting. The cast (in particiular Anya Taylor-Joy and Kate Dickie) are riveting, Mark Korven's score haunting and the cinematography stunning.
Don't expect easy answers or The Conjuring-style bumps in the night, The Witch is its own beast: primal, powerful and devastatingly effective,.
