Review of The Witch (2016) by D T — 07 Aug 2017
The most dominant and feral horror film released in 2016 -- which will likely remain as the most impressive years in horror film history, and certainly the best so far in the 21st century, (again, I mean in terms of how great the quality AND quantity of genre films were in 2016; outside of horror films and maybe a few good music album releases, 2016 is of course a year overall -- in history -- that will be referred back to as a massive disaster for the American people, most of whom, myself included, are unable to find words that would express the intense hatred and insanity we are subjected to 24/7/365 now that we've seen our country's most egregious potential realized.
..so for me, the horror film industry was my escape in 2016, and I'll never forget how much it helped me immerse myself into an alternate reality -- even if only for hours at a time, and even if those hours were jam-packed with terrifying events & madness -- the paralyzingly terror existing in these films will always be comparatively a paradise of sorts now that my fellow American voters have opted for the most unforgivably moronic path.
One that undoes every single modicum of the progress and tranquility we were so lucky experience for 8 years.).
